Common questions, answered.

Can the smoke smell really be removed?

In most cases, yes, when it’s treated at the source: the soot is cleaned out, damaged porous materials are removed, and the odor is neutralized in what remains. Air fresheners only cover it.

What can be saved?

More than people expect. Hard surfaces and many belongings clean up well. Items that were burnt, melted or soaked in contaminated water usually can’t be saved, and we’ll go through them with you.

Is it safe to stay in the house?

Not until the fire department has cleared it, and often not until smoke residue has been cleaned out. Soot particles are fine enough to irritate lungs.

Does homeowners insurance cover smoke damage?

Most policies that cover fire also cover the smoke and soot it causes, but coverage depends on your policy. Call your insurer to open a claim and photograph every room before cleanup starts.

How long does smoke odor removal take?

It depends on what burned and how far the smoke traveled. Cleaning the soot out comes first, then odor treatment of what remains. We’ll walk you through the plan after the assessment.
